The Solutions Diva Blog

Does Your WAH Opportunity Cut it?

How do you know if you should work for a particular WAH company? These are the crucial truths the Greatest companies have. This ten minute video will give you the important need-to-know information about the company you're about to work for.

"Diva Qualifications?"

Does it take a special kind of "school-of-hard-knocks" education to claim you are the Solutions Diva? Honestly, I'm not sure there is such a thing as being "qualified." However, I can tell you that, when I was a young mom, trying to figure out how to raise healthy kids, get permanent ink out of childrens’ t-shirts, and bake like Betty, I felt like there was just not a lot of support out there.

Keep in mind, when I was a young mother, we didn't have the internet like we do today. And, although I was fortunate enough to have some great resources to draw from at my church, there were some things that I just felt...well...stupid asking them. What if they'd laugh at my ignorance? What if they were offended by my quandry? Let's face it...there are some things that are difficult to admit you need a solution for.

So, this blog is the culmination of a couple of things:

1. Years of experience, stretching a dollar, raising kids, working from home, counseling in church...has led me to believe that sometimes people think I have something worth sharing. It's humbling...but leads me to...

2. Some of us just want to help. In fact, I'm convinced that everyone has something to offer everyone else. They may not know what it is...or they may not feel confident enough to share it. But we all have a gift to offer the world. And when others tell me (and I'm not bragging here,...I promise), "I really needed to hear that today," I almost feel like I have no choice but to help others, especially moms, find the solutions to little issues, big fat emotional, heart-wrenching issues...whatever.

I don't claim to know everything...but such as I have, I want to give to you.

And now . . The Solutions Diva is a Blogger!

Here I go! Stepping right out into the wide, wide world of the world-wide web.
I guess I’ll just start with a few things everyone needs to know about me.

1. I am a Christian. More about that, I’m sure, as we blog along.

2. I’m a happily married woman.
I know…novel concept. Been married and madly in love with the same man for over 30 years. He’s a server to all he knows, and a I like to be served, so it’s a good arrangement. Tee, hee!

3. My husband and I adopted three beautiful children.
We are an inter-racial family. My children carry the traits of several races, and my husband and I are boring shades of beige. We have learned a lot, to say the least. Being adoptive parents has given us unique perspective on everything from race relationships to infertility, and all kinds of things in between.

4. I homeschooled all three of my kids. Yep…for 25 years, I schooled my children from home…car…at grandma’s house…at the beach…in the front yard…

5. I have worked from home most of my married life.
Oh, I worked for other people, too. But there is something within me that just won’t let me try to NOT work at home. I call it, “serial-entrepreneurialism.” Yeah…it’s a thing!

6. I was an 80’s rock singer. Believe it!

7. I Hate clutter…no…let me re-phrase that. I LOOOOOOATH clutter.

Although, I do believe that a cluttered space of my own, can be somewhat therapeutic, the truth is that I have always tried to teach my kids (and husband) that everything has a place, and there’s a place for everything. And don’t kid yourself…if I have too many things and not enough places…the things have to go. And they do go!

8. I have struggled with weight and wellness my entire adult life.
Having been a stay-at-home, homeschooling mom, it has always been a mindset issue…never put myself first. And…to top it all off…I love to smoke! I love to eat! I hate to exercise! So, it’s no real surprise, that, until recently, I had no control of my weight.

9. I am no stranger to poverty.
I remember vividly as a child, eating morning cereal with water, because we had no milk. And let me tell ya, that only has to happen once for you to realize that you never want your own children to be without in similar fashion. It’s probably part of that whole “gotta make money at home” thing. I don’t know.

10. I’m obsessed with helping others…and now…let’s do that little thing, shall we?
